Holy Week 2021
Holy Week and Easter look a little different this year, but we are able to take this journey together! See details below. All the services and activities will be live on our Facebook page: Facebook.com/CentralLutheranDallas. Also, Easter Sunday we will include the option to worship in person in the church parking lot. You are welcome to stay in your car and hear/participate with the service over the radio or bring a chair and sit our side your car with a face mask on. There will be a large speaker broadcasting the service for those outside their cars.
Palm Sunday – All glory, laud, and honor to Christ. Jesus begins his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The road he followed was strewn with coats and other fine cloth and palm branches. Jesus reminds us to proclaim the only one whose throne really matters as he turns to the Holy City to begin the work of our salvation. Raise your palm frond in great jubilation and exclaim “Hosanna! Good Friday – With its dark, blessed name, it is both the pinnacle day of suffering and lamentation and simultaneously a day of expectant, hope-filled waiting. We journey with Jesus along his way, beginning with his prayer in the garden, through his trial, death and burial. Follow along with the Good Friday insert throughout the day for devotions. We will honor our Tenebrae tradition of the diminishing light. Every hour, at the top of the hour, beginning at 6am and continuing through 8pm we will offer a brief prayer, hymn or hymn verse and scripture reading on Facebook live Friday April 2nd. Easter Vigil – In Jewish tradition, the celebration begins at sundown the night before. We draw the conclusion of the Triduum service not with death, but resurrection. Jesus’ death took place during the holy celebration of Passover. In this night, we remember that Jesus was the light that came into the world to save us from our depths of despair and illumine God’s salvation. During our Facebook Live service on Saturday, April 3rd at 7:30pm will light the candle provided to remember the light of truth and love burns brightly for you and it can never be extinguished.
