Saturday, October 6 – Community Garden Work day!

Join us from 9am-noon as we work to complete the first phase of the garden and finish filling all the raised planting beds with soil. Bring your wheel barrow if you have one and shovels. If you would like to help but are not available that morning – we can use more wheel barrows and shovels to help the work go smoothly!

Saturday, October 13  Re-scheduled to October 27 due to rain! – 11:00AM join us in Oak Alley for a Blessing of the Animals!

Taken from Pastor Rich’s recent message: “The poem All Things Bright and Beautiful, by Cecil Frances Alexander, describes all creation existing to praise God and how truly great is “God almighty Who has made all things well.” The words of this poem have been set to music and can be found in the hymnal With One Voice, #767. We are not only connected to God’s creation, we have an obligation as stewards to protect and preserve God’s creation. A person who not only understood this but lived it was St. Francis of Assisi. He had a real connection with animals. He said of animals, “Not to hurt our humble brethren is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission — to be of service to them whenever they require it.” There are many stories about St. Francis and his encounters with animals; no wonder he is the Patron Saint of Animals.

We invite you to bring your furry, scaly, or feathered friend for a special recognition and blessing. We will be spread out with cats & dogs in different areas if needed. If your pet is a little skittish around others, you are welcome to bring a picture so you and they can be included in this special morning and blessing.
