Youth Worker
Jennifer Nixon

Jennifer Nixon

Jennifer is a graduate of St. Olaf's in Northfield, Minn., where she earned a degree in biology. She trained with Tentmakers ministries in Minneapolis and worked as youth director at First Lutheran Church in Onalaska, Wisconsin.

In October of 1996 Jennifer and her husband Greg moved to Dallas, where Greg joined the Central Lutheran team as Director of Youth and Family Ministry. Greg served as Director of Youth and Family Ministries from 1996, until November, 1999. We thank him for his years of loyal and productive service at Central.

Jennifer brings many skills and assets to the position of Youth Worker, and we give thanks to God for her. "Richest blessings, Jennifer" upon you and the ministry that God is unfolding for you - and for us - at Central Lutheran.

Director of Music
Larry McCain

Larry McCain

Larry McCain, our Organist and Director of Music, was born in Tyler, Texas, and grew up in Arlington, Texas. He attended Howard Payne College, Brownwood, Texas; Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas (Bachelor of Music, major in Church Music); Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas (Master of Music, major in Composition); and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (36 hours toward Doctor of Musical Arts in Church Music). Larry was an Air Force musician (flute and piccolo) during his four years of military service. He has studied organ with Euel Belcher, Emmet Smith, Nita Akin, and Diane Bish. He is a published composer (Hope Publishing Co., Myklas Music Press, Warner Bros.).

Larry has served churches of many different denominations, including Baptist, Methodist, Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, and ELCA, which is his 'home church' by choice.

Larry is Director of the Institutional Division of Steinway Hall - Dallas-Fort Worth-Plano. In this capacity he works with over 75 colleges and universities, as well as private and public school systems and non-profit musical organizations, assisting them in inventory planning and upgrading.

Diane, Larry's wife, is Larry's best supporter in Central's Senior Choir, and is an accomplished flutist. Diane is Administrative Services Manager for the Brice Legal Group, a law firm in the mortgage banking business.

Of his goals for Central's Music Ministry, Larry says: "I work to enable and equip all of Central Lutheran's members and worshippers to give their very best in musical praise as an offering to God and as ministry to each other. This includes the worshipping congregation--the most important choir--as well as those who choose to give extra time and dedication to improving their skills and learning about and presenting the wonderful musical heritage of sacred music."

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

Colossians 3:16
