Central Lutheran Church offers many opportunities to experience
life in our Lord Jesus Christ through the joy of music:
Music plays a very important part in Christian Worship, and
Central's Music Ministry is designed to foster the growth in
ability and participation of the entire congregation through
leadership in the worship services. Many individuals, ensembles,
and choirs learn, rehearse, and prepare to make this possible.

This choir rehearses every Wednesday evening from 7:30 - 9:00
p.m. These musicians are the primary choir for music leadership
each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Additional service responsibilities
include other Holy Days, such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday,
Good Friday, and Thanksgiving Eve. Membership is open to all
adults and high school youth who sing parts and who are able to commit to 1-1/2 hour
rehearsal every week, a thirty-minute rehearsal every Sunday just
prior to the service, and for additional rehearsals before
festival occasions when necessary. The ideal member is not
necessarily a soloist, but a solid ensemble singer. Attendance on
a regular basis is expected, considering the level of preparation
required and the wide range of repertoire presented. Larry McCain
is director.
We currently have two children’s choirs.

The Cherub
Choir, for children two to five years old meets
at the end of the Sunday School hour from 9:55 -
10:15 am on Sunday mornings. We sing and play a
variety of musical games and have fun learning about
different kinds of sounds, music and instruments.
Under the direction of Alesia Pearson, we sing in
the worship service two to three times per year.

The Junior Choir is composed
of 1st – 6th grade children and meets
Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:15 pm. In addition to playing
musical games, we learn hymns, learn the church
liturgy, sing songs while playing instruments, and
sing in the worship service four to five times per year. We
also have a music assistant program so that children
who are interested can assist the organist/adult
choir director and learn more about what the adult
choir does on Sunday mornings. Alice Morrow is
director of the Junior Choir.
Opportunities are available for vocal soloists who are regular
members of one of our choirs. Instrumental soloists and ensembles
perform periodically and add much to our musical worship experience.
