Central Lutheran Church offers many opportunities to learn
more about the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ:
The mission of Sunday School is to teach the story of Jesus
Christ and serve the needs of others.
- Our first contact is through Cradle Roll where
"Messages of God's Love" are sent to the home
until the child is three years old. There is also a
nursery provided each Sunday morning.
- The pre-school through sixth grade students meet each
Sunday in a general assembly where Christian education
and fellowship are experienced through singing, and
sharing personal events. Following the assembly, students
are dismissed to their age group classes to learn stories
from the bible.
- Grades nine through 12 meet to discuss personal and peer
situations as they relate to their Christian life.
- Adults have several classes, where topics and themes vary
throughout the year.
A group of ladies meets at the church each Tuesday morning at
10 a.m. for studying God's Word. Leadership
of the sessions is rotated among several members of the group.
The group studies specific books of the Bible as well as the
Biblical perspective on topics of interest to them.
One week each summer brings great fun and excitement to the
halls of the education building! Vacation Bible School is open to
all children (regardless of denomination or church
affiliation) ages three to 12. With Bible-based lessons, crafts,
music, and physical activities, children
are swept into a whirl of activities teaching them how special
they are as God's little blessings. The staff consists entirely
of volunteers ranging in ages 13 to, well, there are no limits!
The week ends with a family celebration providing
opportunity for the children to show off what they have
done and learned during the week. Call the church office
for information about dates and times at 214-327-2222.
Also known as "seekers and searchers", the Adult
Inquiry Class is offered for adults who are seeking to join the
Lutheran Church as well as those who wish to review their
understanding of basic Scripture and Lutheran Doctrine primarily
as taught through Martin Luther's Small Catechism. The class is
offered periodically throughout the year. Please contact the
Pastor (214) 327-2222 for more
details.
The Confirmation Program is the in-depth study of Scripture
and the Lutheran Confessions and the Sacraments for maturing
youth. The two-year program starts in the seventh grade year,
with the day of Confirmation coming in the fall after the second
year.
A one-week summer camp experience is offered each
year as part of the Confirmation Program. Central Lutheran Church
subsidizes the camp fees for each student the first year. LORMS
(Lutheran Outdoor and Retreat Ministry of the Southwest)
administers camp facilities in North Texas, Central Texas, and
the Hill Country.
First Communion Instruction is offered to children 10 years of
age or older.
The library contains a growing collection of books and other
resources to assist with growth in Christian faith and
congregational life. There are a variety of Bibles, commentaries,
study helps, and general fiction and non-fiction works. A growing
video library, particularly for children, and audio cassettes of
Holy Scripture and various lectures and topics are all available
to be checked out.
The library operates under a self check-out policy. After
items are selected, the check-out card in the front pocket may be
signed, dated, and placed in the check-out file in the library.
The library is open Sunday mornings and between 3:30 and 4:30
Monday through Friday.
